Workshop Interdisciplinary Studies in Developing Cities for People, Slovenia
Building on the outcomes of the SAFE project, a one week workshop titled Interdisciplinary Studies in Developing Cities for People was organized, following the methodological framework developed within the project and the format of previous ISPs. The workshop was hosted by the University of Ljubljana and brought together a group of 11 students.
The focus of the workshop was the central area of Ljubljana, where students worked in groups to explore spatial challenges related to vulnerable groups: people with disabilities, the elderly, young families, and individuals with autism. An important resource in this process was the study module developed within the SAFE project, which provided students with a comprehensive understanding of the topic and access to the materials produced throughout the project. During the week, students engaged in an intensive analytical and project based process, applying methods such as Jane’s Walk, Safety Walk, role playing, and other tools. These approaches helped the students to design spatial proposals for the selected areas across three time frames: 5, 15, and 30 years. The workshop concluded with group presentations of final posters, each outlining proposed spatial interventions, followed by a constructive discussion on how issues related to vulnerable groups and accessibility can be more effectively addressed within open public space.
